The fine print
Privacy Policy
Short version: the things you put into a tool stay on your own computer, and we don't collect anything about you.
Updated
The short version
The tools on Gwibbo run inside your web browser. The files you open, the text you paste and the results you download are processed on your own device. They are never uploaded to us, never stored by us, and never seen by us.
We don't use cookies, we don't run analytics scripts, we don't show adverts, and there is nothing to sign up for. There's no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to ask you to consent to.
What you put into a tool
Everything a tool touches is handled in the page in front of you. Converting a PDF, generating a QR code and counting words all happen in your browser, using your device's own processor and memory.
Nothing is transmitted to us, so there is no copy on a server to be breached, subpoenaed or sold. When you close or reload the page, whatever the tool was holding is gone.
You don't have to trust us on this. Open your browser's network panel while you use a tool and you'll see no request carrying your data. Or load a tool page, disconnect from the internet, and use it offline — it still works, because there was never anything on the other end.
Cookies and local storage
Gwibbo sets no cookies of its own, and stores nothing in your browser's local storage. There are no accounts, no preferences to remember and no session to keep alive. If a future tool ever needs to remember a setting, it will keep that on your device and this page will say so.
Analytics and advertising
We run no analytics: no Google Analytics, no product analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting and no third-party scripts of any kind. We don't build a profile of you, because we have nothing to build one from.
Gwibbo carries no advertising, so no ad network is able to set a cookie or a device identifier here.
Requests to other companies
Pages on this site don't load anything from anyone else. The typefaces, icons and code that make the tools work are all served from Gwibbo's own domain rather than from a font service or a CDN. That matters more than it sounds: a page that pulls a font from another company hands that company your IP address and the page you were reading, every time. Ours doesn't.
Our hosting provider
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the request your browser makes for a page and processes standard technical information in doing so — your IP address, the page requested, the time, and details of your browser and device. This is ordinary web-server activity, used to serve the site, keep it available and defend it against attack. It applies to the request for the page itself, not to anything you subsequently do inside a tool.
Cloudflare's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy terms. We don't receive your files or your text through them, because your files and text are never sent anywhere.
If you email us, we'll have whatever you put in your message — your address, and anything you choose to tell us. We use it to reply to you and nothing else. We don't add you to a mailing list, because there isn't one.
Children's privacy
Gwibbo isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Since we collect nothing from anybody, this is a promise we're in an unusually good position to keep.
Links to other sites
Some pages link out to other websites. Once you follow one of those links you're on someone else's site, under someone else's rules, and we have no control over what they collect. It's worth reading their policy before handing anything over.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. If you'd like to ask about that anyway, please do — the address is below.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does ever changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top changes too. If we ever introduce something that collects data — analytics, advertising, or a tool that genuinely needs a server — it will be described here plainly before it ships, not slipped in.
